"Once You're Through Learning, You're Through"

How come I never heard of Alvaro Fernandez before today?
Alvaro Fernandez is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of www.SharpBrains.com, a leading brain fitness market research and consulting firm, and educational website.
A sought-after voice and thought-leader in the growing science-based brain fitness market, Alvaro has been quoted by The New York Times, CNN, Bloomberg, Reuters, Congressional Quarterly, and is a frequent speaker at health, neurotechnology and education events. He co-authored with neuroscientist Dr. Elkhonon Goldberg the acclaimed The State of the Brain Fitness Software Market, 2008 report.
Alvaro started his career at McKinsey & Company and led the launch and turnaround of several publishing and education companies in the US and Europe, including Bertelsmann On Line, Docent, Inc, and Edusoft, a unit of Houghton Mifflin. He has an MBA and MA in Education from Stanford University. He enjoys teaching The Science of Brain Health and Brain Fitness at UC-Berkeley Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and advising the management teams of social enterprises Ashoka, and Arcandina.
I'm not big fan of just providing a bunch of links on my blog--but that's what I'm doing today. Make a trip to Alvaro's site and you'll find interviews with brain science experts--the kind that are working on research that we can apply to our own lives--like Arthur Kramer--the exercise-brain maven & Andrew Newberg--the meditation-brain expert. And he also writes a blog on brain science for the online Huffington Post--which is where I discovered him.
I haven't had time to fully explore his offerings--but glancing through his posts on the Top Brain Fitness Books of 2008 and the Top Brain Articles of 2008--I think we are on the same wavelength. I'm acquainted with many of the books, research and experts he writes about--and I look forward to learning from those that are new to me! He writes a lot about what you've already read on Happy Healthy Long Life. Exercise, Eat the greens, beans, & omega-3s, Meditate, Sleep, Play, Cultivate Friendships, Be Grateful, Be Kind.....
So here is some Alvaro Fernandez Brain Food to snack on:
Hello there.
Yes, Alvaro is quite a font of knowledge and expertise on brain fitness. The sharp brains site is excellent.
As regards brain fitness you and your readers might be interested in Susanne Jaeggi and Martin Buschkuehl's study on Improving Fluid Intelligence by Training Working Memory (PNAS April 2008) which recorded increases in mental agility (fluid intelligence) of more than 40% after 19 days of focused brain training.
I was so impressed that I contacted the research team and developed a software program using the same method so that anyone can achieve these improvements.
